Chicago O'Hare Airport

Beware creepy humming dude at airport bar. I'm not at all keen on dinner theatre.

Having our first-ever Chicago-style hot dog...it is topped with relish, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, hot peppers, a pickle and mustard. The clerk who sold it to us and the woman sitting next to us in the waiting area assured us this is the real deal.

    • Delicious! The best hot dog and toppings we've ever had. We have to have a second one! btw, you're also supposed to sprinkle celery salt on your hot dog. $3.99 + tax

        • I've been following your Chicago travels--and you forgot to have Chicago style pizza! Can't find that anywhere else into the US, much to the chagrin of heart surgeons.

          • I really wanted to try Chicago-style deep dish pizza, but my wife and daughter weren't too keen on the idea. There was even a wildly popular Numero Uno near our hotel, but we never made it there. I'll definitely sample their pizza the next time I visit.

            • Yes, it was Numero Uno that I had. I can't say I liked it better than regular thin crust, but when in Rome.

Made it from our downtown hotel and through security in under 45 minutes. (12 noon on a Monday) For first time ever, didn't check id as we printed our boarding passes and checked bags. Weren't asked to take off sweaters. They gladly hand-checked film. A breeze checking into this enormous airport.

      • They did actually check our i.d. once just before we entered the final security barrier, so rest assured they're doing an outstanding job!

Super fast electronic check-in for boarding pass. The longest security check line I've ever experienced. A cold brew would be great right now; too bad one costs about $10 with tip. Glad the heaters r on because it's -4 outside right now! I'm thawing out while I wait in this infinite line.

    FOOD:
Jazz food court is is the best value for food. You can get a hand scooped chocolate malt made with vanilla ice cream for $4, and a pretty good sub sandwich for about $7. Concourse C @ C20.
Also, there's a greek place near the E/F gates that's rated #1 that has awesome Gyros.

    • I got a decent salad there for $8.00. Not prepackaged and the veggies were fresh. I'd go back.

Nice airport. Also has flu shot stations. Love the neon art above the moving walkway.
